Texture was formed in early 2002 after some personnel changes and creative challenges caused the prior incarnation to struggle with the personality, soul, and style of the band. After the 2001 holiday season was over, they regrouped and decided to start looking for someone who could help pave the way for their new sound. The second guitarist they tried out, Allen Moreno, could only be described as the perfect fit. Allen brought with him a new energy that was immediately felt, and the band had a resurgence of excitement.
After weeks and weeks of trying to come up with a name they decided upon Texture. The new sound was in fact very textured with complex guitar lines overlapping strong vocal melodies on a foundation of a driving rhythm section. They spent the next three years writing songs, playing shows and developing their sound. They eventually caught the attention of Neil Christensen and Lee M Sharman of 3AM Productions who signed them to a production deal. The result was a pro-quality demo recorded and mixed at Westlake Studios by Pablo Munguia which featured the original songs “What You Get” and “Wilmington” produced by Jeremy Yeremian. An extremely professional music video for “What You Get” directed by Gus Vouniozos followed thereafter.
With demo in hand, the band received a big burst of interest from the Los Angeles community, showcasing their talent to multiple entertainment entities including Vital Recordings, who eventually signed them to record deal. After several months of pre-production they entered the studio again with producer Jeremy Yeremian to record their debut EP, featuring the songs "Your Fault", "Letting Go" and a remixed version of "What You Get". The entire recording process was captured on video and included as bonus footage on the enhanced disc along with the music video for "What You Get".
